Classical Ballet & Contemporary Dance Training
Haruno Yamazaki-Shannon was trained by master teachers in classical ballet and contemporary dance at the School of American Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, Chautauqua Institute of Dance, Ballet School of Stamford, and Greenwich Ballet Academy where she graduated with honors in 2007 under Royal Ballet England, Bolshoi Ballet and Kirov Ballet masters in the R.A.D and Vaganova Syllabus, the art of performance, acting and stage craft.

Professional Experience

yamazaki danced for Configuration Dance Theatre, Artistic Directors and Founders Joseph Cipolla and Catherine Batchellor, and Resident Choreographer Michael Shannon, retired principal dancers formerly with England's Birmingham Royal Ballet and Bolshoi Ballet;American Repertory Ballet, Artistic Director Graham Lustig, former principal dancer for Dutch National Ballet and Sadler Wells Royal Ballet. Her classical and contemporary repertoire includes Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Don quixote, Harrison McEldowney's Endredando Sombras, Michael Shannon's Awakenings, and What's the Pointe, Grahm Lustig's Nutcracker,Shadows in the Attic, Beauty and the Beast, Yield, Vista, Six Pianos, and Grounds for Sculpture; Twyla Tharp's Octet and Baker's Dozen; Melissa Barak's Danzantes; and Val Canipoaroli's Lambarena. As a member of the Metropolitan Opera, Dance Director Joseph Fritz, former principal dancer for Eglevsky Ballet and Metropolitan Opera, she was invited by choreographer, Mark Morris to be his principal dancer to fulfill his choreographic vision for the global opera ballet masterpiece, "Nixon in China, " which was simultaneously broadcasted live to 40+ countries, 1500 theatres, over the radio, internet, and television, e.g. the award winning KPBS Great Performances, The Met Live in HDTV Series, Toll Brothers International Network, SIRIUS Channel 78 and XM Channel 79, which has resulted in over two million global viewers to date.

Volunteer, Educational and Community Outreach
Yamazaki joined Artistic Director Graham Lustig, fellow artists and associates of American Repertory Ballet in volunteer, educational and community outreach programs to promote the art of classical ballet and contemporary dance, and fund raising activities to provide support and services to orphans living in trauma after the death of their parents from AIDS at the Oncata Rongai Christian Women's Charity Orphanage in Nairobi, Kenya.

pilates and yoga

yamazaki began pilates and yoga during her years in study for injury prevention and rehabilitation. she became a certified romana's pilates instructor at the true pilates studio in new york city under Romana Kryzanowska and sari meija- santo. she is grateful to her teachers which also include cynthia shipley, jerome weinberg, anthony rabara, carrie keneally, ilaria cavagna, and sends a special thanks to carol mcguire and tom gesimondo for their support.  yamazaki has been working as a private trainer for high performance dancers and athletes, post surgical therapy and trauma rehabilitation, prenatal training and postnatal rehabilitation at tokyo physio.
